The School Community

Parental Involvement

Parents are the first educators of their children. We believe that home, school and parish should work in close harmony for the benefit of the child.

Parents' active cooperation and participation in all school functions is encouraged. There are two parents' evenings each year – one in November and one in March/April. Parents will have the opportunity to visit the school to discuss with the teacher their child's progress and to see the child's work. Parents are welcome to discuss their child's progress at any time by arrangement with the Headteacher.

As a school, we recognise that parents may wish to discuss concerns they may have with the class teacher, Deputy Headteacher or Headteacher. Where possible, members of staff make themselves available at the end of the school day. Alternatively, appointments can be made through the school office. There may be times when we wish to discuss our own concerns with parents. At all times, it should be remembered that school and home operate in partnership to ensure that children enjoy their education, are happy in school and are making the progress expected of them.

A strong Parent/Teacher Association operates within the school and all parents are automatically members of the Association when their child starts school. Membership is free. The aim of the Association is to establish, through social and fund raising activities, a closer co-operation between parents and school for the greater benefit of the children.
